About Dakshin Dinajpur
History:
Dakshin Dinajpur came about after the division of the old West Dinajpur into Northern Dinajpur and South Dinajpur in April, 1992. Its history extends from Pal and the Sen Dynasties of Northern Bengal and shares a rich historical heritage. The West Dinajpur region came into existence in August 1947 with the partition of Bengal. The province of Bengal was divided into two parts according to the division. The dividing line passes through the Dinajpur region, and the western part of the line is called West Dinajpur.

It is a central town located in the Uttar Dinajpur region. It is famous for its pottery/terracotta works and the clay used for decoration comes from tea gardens. Craftsmen make tiles and dishes for small plants.
